In 2017, voters approved a non-recurring 5 year, $600,000 operating referendum which expires in December 2021. This April, the Board of Education is asking for voter approval to continue this funding through an operational referendum on the April 6, 2021 ballot. If approved, this would go into effect with the December 2022 tax bill. The operational referendum asks voters to approve the following:
-
2022-2026 - A total of $700,000 is requested for the first 5 years:
-
2027-2040 - After five years, the amount requested drops to $315,000 per year for the remaining 14 years, to pay debt only.
The Board of Education hopes to continue to modernize programming to provide more hands-on and collaborative learning opportunities. The operational referendum will be used to address budget shortfalls, sustain educational opportunities for students and improve learning environments.
All voting residents of the Riverdale School District may vote on the referendum question, which will appear on the April 6, 2021 ballot. For information on how to vote in the April 6, 2021 election, please visit My Vote Wisconsin at https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/
