Education:
I graduated from the University of La Crosse in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in Park and Recreation Management. In 2001 I enrolled in the Master's of Education Program at the University of La Crosse and graduated in the summer of 2004. From there I attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Educational Administration Program and earned my Principal certification in 2014. I furthered my education at Viterbo University in their Superintendent Administration Program and received my certification in 2017.
How I came to be at Riverdale:
I am originally from Wonewoc Wisconsin, a small town a few miles north of Muscoda. My first job after college was at a resort in Brainerd, Minnesota. I worked at Grand View Lodge for 5 years. I met my wife Katie and we then soon married. After our first child Laura was born we moved back to my hometown of Wonewoc. There we had our second child, Ethan, and worked on the family dairy farm for five years. I then went back to school to receive my masters degree in education and began my teaching career at Riverdale in the fall of 2004.
My Journey at the Riverdale School District:
My teaching career started by teaching middle school math and science for 9 years at Riverdale Middle School. During my time I have been an Assistant Football Coach, Boys Basketball Head Coach, Science Olympiad Coach, and Dean of Students. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at these positions and have gotten to know many students and their families in the Riverdale School District.
In the fall of 2013 I started a new position as High School Principal for the Riverdale School District. This was a big change for me. For the next six years I moved from working with middle school students to high school students and staff members. This transition was easy because of all of the great students, staff and parents in the district. Riverdale is a great place to work. In 2015-16 we moved the 7th and 8th grade students to the high school building. This was a new and exciting change. During this time we also experienced a remodeling project that brought air conditioning to our building, the multi-purpose building, and a new weight room facility courtesy of the PEP grant.
In 2019, the Board of Education hired me as the District Administrator of the Riverdale School District. This is an opportunity that I never imagined that I would have. It has given me the opportunity to be involved in some great district wide upgrades, such as the new “Jack Meister Outdoor Learning Center” at the school farm, adding a new girls softball field on campus, and passing a $4,880,000 referendum for classroom additions and bathroom upgrades at the Riverdale Junior High/High School building.
